Charities That Take Car Donations

There are a variety of major charities that take car donations. Donating a vehicle is one of the better, yet lesser known ways to help your favorite nonprofit organization. Perhaps you already know which charity you want to work with. If so, simply contact them via their website or call their toll-free telephone number which most charities have. They can tell you if they accept donated vehicles and if so, how to donate your unwanted vehicle. Many organizations will pick up your donated vehicle at no cost to you.

One organization that takes car donations is the American Cancer Society. Their Cars for a Cure program uses the proceeds from donated car sales for things like research, education and patient services. Donating a car to the American Cancer Society is quite simple. All you have to do is fill out a donation form and they will tell you how to complete all required paperwork. From there they can send a tow truck to come pick up your donated vehicle. It's easy and fast to donate your car to this trusted charity.

Another fantastic organization that accepts donated vehicles is the Salvation Army. The Salvation Army is a nationwide charity that helps individuals and families in need. Often these people are in need of the most basic survival necessities like food and shelter. Like the ACS, the Salvation Army will send a tow truck to pick up your vehicle at no charge. There are plenty of other charitable organizations that would be happy to take your old vehicle. One great way to find them is to use a car donation center.

If you cannot find charities that take car donations that appeal to you, try a car donation center instead. Car donation centers work with a wide variety of different charities both locally and nationally. One example of a car donation center is Cars 4 Causes in California. This organization donates 100 percent of all proceeds to the charity of your choice. There are other organizations like Cars 4 Causes all over the country that sell donated vehicles of all kinds and send the funds to the benefactor's chosen charity. When you donate a vehicle to charity, you can take a $500 deduction off your tax return. The IRS or your tax preparer can tell you more about how this works.
